As Per Course Outline
The Department of Communications and
the Arts:
A very glitzy page that deals with the Department of Communications, Information
Technology and the Arts. I guess this means everything can fit into art.
OR not.
The Australian Broadcasting Authority:
Another glitzy site that makes the ABA fun. (The URL is different than the
one listed in outline)
The Australian Film Commision:
Notice the free speech online ribbon.. Hmmmm.. Love it when Gov sites do
that. This place is an Australian Instittution that tries to make sure that
the films that get funded, project a kind of Australian-ness that the gov
of the day likes. IMHO.
Cinemedia Site:
Not as good as this site was 2 years ago.. As a matter of fact it seems
to be more associated with Melbourne than Australia as a whole. (The URL
is no longer GU based)
Festival of Television for
Australian Children:
Open wide come inside.. It's Aussie Kids TV. And the site has been closed
since before Xmas.
ABC
Radio National The Media Report:
Speaks for itself.
Sites that may also be of use:
Violent Cinema Downunder:
Ever wondered what films were banned and why. What scenes were taken out
to gain the correct certificate. What was so grizzly that it was cut from
"Men IN Black". Well this page had it all.. Untill it was forced
into retirement.. IT is unfortunate when things like that happen.. Damn
the man.. I guess it was shut down for having streaming versions of scenes
that were cut from Australian versions of film.. W'oh you should hadve scene
what ED 209 really did to people in ROBOCOP.. IT would have left you swallowing
blood. Bummer you don't get to see this site.
The Office of Film and Literature Classification
(OFLC):
Learn how to suppress art.
Beyond International:
Long time maker of boring Australian Content. Well Good Guys, Bad Guys was
good.. for a while.
Austrlalain Film Institute:
A place where people go to see Aussie films really cheap (FREE) by paying
a small membership fee once a year.
QPIX:
The breeder and nurturer of celluloid ideas in Brisbane.
Sofcom:
A huge Australian site with TV guides and all the stuff you would ever want
on Australia. Has Australian search engines and Footy tipping. Oh it's a
national treasure. Also competitions that don't read, MUST BE A RESIDENT
OF THE USA/CANADA.
4zzz:
The unmistakable sounds of the REAL Brisbane.
Darkhorizons:
One of the best Hollywood Goss sites on the Net. And it is Australian.
Urban Cinefile:
The biggest and best discussion site on Aussie film you are likely to find
on the internet. Winner of many awards. It has blown out since it's launch
in 1997. It was winner of Best Arts and Entertainment site in Australia
last year (Awards run by Telstra and FRW). And is set to keep winning this
award until someone stops this juggernaut.
TV stations:
Channel 7:
A very colourful site. And in the background of the 7 logo in the orange
sky you can make out the ABC logo very clearly. Who are they kidding. (this
is on the 27th of Jul 99).
Channel 9:
The station that brings you ACA. Has a website in the Microsoft Network..
The People who bring you Windows 98. It has a hotmail login at the top and
if you were to type www.msn.com anywhere from an Aussie ISP you would be
taken to channel 9. The page has a nice Newspaper contents type layout.
Channel 10:
I generally steer clear of a page that has the word WOW on it anyplace.
Especially in the order "Wow- Cool Competition!" showing that
it is going to take a little more work from ten to "turn me on".
SBS:
That great programming schedule. That excellent quality. IT's worth climbing
the roof to get reception to this channel.
ABC Online
Complete experience of the "National Broadcaster"
@rena:
One of the most successfull Australian cable Channels run by XYZ who also
run music channel [v] (once called RED, the Channel MTV couldn't afford
to buy).
Channel V:
Owned XYZ and it has a great rep for supporting Australian bands all the
time.
MTV Australia
Basically the same as MTV America, except it is 3 months behind, and has
own request, chart show and DIDGE INDIE (MIDNIGHT AUSTRALIAN CONTRIBUTION).
CABLE PROVIDERS
Austar:
The Best webpage out of all providers. If only regulation permitted for
Brisbanites to "Get Switched On".
Optus vision:
An advert for Optus more than the actual cable provider.
Foxtel:
Guides and blurb.
Webmaster's Sites (affiliate, not related)
The Road Rules Project:
A web page that explores the advertising campaign of "The Blair Witch
Project", combines it with another REALITY TV concept (MTV's Road Rules),
than places an Australian Film crew in the middle of it all that has no
clue what goes where. What you get is a spoof of the greatest NET campaign
a FILM has ever had. You need to see the site that it is a spoof of to understand
(HAXAN films: The
Blair Witch Project)
Horror
Fans Anon:
Horror Movie and TV News and all the rest of it updated daily. includes
features and interviews with directors of the genre. Ed Sanchez (The Blair
Witch Project), Martin Kunert (Campfire Tales) and Mike Prosser (The Dividing
Hour). HUGE A-2-Z listing of films.. Add to what I've missed.. Real Player
clips and other great stuff. Too much info to list in a blurb.
Hacked Stakes:
A web site dedicated to renovating Need For Speed IV: High Stakes.
Ghost Tours:

of Brisbane through tales from the dark and light side of life and death.
